Russ is a passionate comedy, horror and commercial writer and director, with a specific focus on bringing the weird, off-kilter and surreal into contact with the everyday.
Russ' short comedy film PLAY TIME was screened at London Short Film Festival, his British absurdist mystery film BINGO: LOTTERY OF SHADOWS was picked up by female-forward VOD streaming platform Fabulosis Films, his post-apocalyptic comedy-drama MUSTARD received a special mention from London Worldwide Comedy Festival, and his comedy sketches have been featured in audio form on BBC Radio Bristol. His pilot script for surreal psychological mystery series TICK TOCK also made it to the final 10% of submissions in the BBC Writersroom 2022 Open Call, placing him in consideration for the Voices 2023 writers' programme.
More recently comedy-horror OLD TESTAMENT was screened at Unrestricted View Horror Film Festival in 2024, and his feature horror script YOMP has been optioned for production by Silent D Pictures. Russ is currently in the process of putting together his first horror/thriller feature production, shooting in 2026.
In the commercial world, his work creating cinematic, dramatic video content has earned him multiple awards, with his genre movie-themed corporate training films in particular exploring the interesting crossover between commerce and entertainment.
